country in respect of proposals to be submitted within Horizon 2020.

the European Council has announced that Switzerland will be considered
as a third country in respect of proposals to be submitted within
Horizon 2020.

Switzerland's 'Against Mass Immigration' has an Impact on Researchers as Individuals
Individual projects (namely under grants from the European Research Council or Marie Skłodowska Curie actions):
Only institutions in an EU member state or an associated country may take part in calls for project proposals for ERC grants. Therefore, as things currently stand, researchers from Swiss institutions may not apply for ERC grants.Individual Marie Skłodowska Curie scholarships are open to researchers of all nationalities, including applicants from third countries.
Nevertheless, Swiss institutions now have limited rights to take part in Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions.
Researchers who are Swiss nationals and who work within an EU or associated country retain their participation rights.
SERI recommendation:
Since Switzerland is currently working towards a political solution, SERI recommends that any application for ERC grants or Marie Skłodowska Curie scholarships that researchers in Switzerland have either finished or have almost finished should be made ready in preparation for immediate submission.
Important: The participation and funding of Swiss entities in FP7 projects is not affected.
